Bottlebrush

The bottlebrush prefers a sunny, warm, and sheltered location. It is heat-tolerant and only slightly frost-tolerant; young plants, in particular, should be protected.

The soil should be loose, sandy to loamy, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH (approx. 5.5–6.5) is ideal. The plant tolerates drought well, but waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as an evergreen shrub or small tree and usually reaches a height of 2 to 6 meters. It is particularly valued for its striking, cylindrical, red flower spikes.
