Swinglea glutinosa
(Swinglea glutinosa)
The citrus hedge prefers a full-sun, warm, and sheltered location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It is sensitive to frost and grows best at consistently high temperatures.
The soil should be loose, humus-rich, and well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal. Regular moisture is preferred, but waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a densely branched, evergreen shrub or small hedge plant and can reach a height of about 2 to 5 meters. It is particularly valued for its dense, thorny growth as a natural hedge and privacy screen.
