Lemon balm
(Melissa officinalis)
Lemon balm prefers a sunny to partially shaded, warm, and sheltered location. It is very robust and quite frost-hardy.
The soil should be loose, humous, and consistently moist. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value (approx. 5.5–6.5) is ideal. Waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a perennial and usually reaches a height of 30 to 80 cm.
It is primarily valued for its lemony aroma as a tea, medicinal, and culinary herb.
