Citron
(Citrus medica)
The citron prefers a warm, sunny, and sheltered location with plenty of light. It requires regular watering, with the soil kept evenly moist but very well-drained.
An ideal soil is loose, rich in humus and nutrients, with a slightly acidic pH of about 5.5 to 6.5. Waterlogging should absolutely be avoided, as the roots are sensitive.
Under optimal conditions, it begins to bear fruit after about 3 to 5 years, producing the characteristic fragrant, finger-like fruits. The plant usually reaches a height of about 2 to 4 meters and grows as a compact, evergreen citrus shrub or small tree.
