Poinsettia

The poinsettia prefers a bright, warm, and very sheltered location without direct, strong midday sun. It is frost-sensitive and is usually cultivated as a houseplant or outdoors in sheltered areas in mild climates.

The soil should be loose, humus-rich, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal, and consistent but moderate moisture is preferred; waterlogging should absolutely be avoided.

The plant grows as a shrub and usually reaches a height of 0.5 to 3 meters. It is particularly valued for its colorful bracts (not the actual flowers).
