Water poppy

The water poppy prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm, and very humid location in still or slow-flowing waters. It is sensitive to frost and grows best in tropical to subtropical climates.

The substrate should be nutrient-rich, muddy to loamy, and permanently wet. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 6.0 and 7.5 is ideal, and it thrives in shallow water or riparian zones.

The plant grows as an aquatic plant with floating leaves and usually reaches 10 to 30 cm above the water surface. It is primarily used as an ornamental plant in ponds.
