Water Pear
(Pyrus spp.)
The water pear prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm, and very humid location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It is frost-sensitive and requires consistently high temperatures and high humidity.
The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal, regular watering is important, and waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a small to medium-sized tree and usually reaches a height of 3 to 10 meters. It typically bears its first fruits after about 3 to 5 years under good conditions.
