Forest Guava
(Psidium myrtoides)
The forest guava prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm, and sheltered location in a subtropical to tropical climate. It is sensitive to frost to slightly frost-tolerant (only briefly at very mild sub-zero temperatures) and thrives best with stable warmth.
The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and well-draining. A slightly acidic pH value between approximately 5.0 and 6.5 is ideal; regular moisture is preferred, and waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a small, often slow-growing tree or shrub and usually reaches 2 to 6 meters in height. It typically bears its first fruits after about 3 to 6 years under good conditions.
