Ubajay
(Hexachlamys edulis)
The Ubajay prefers a sunny to partially shaded, warm and sheltered location in a subtropical to mildly tropical climate. It is moderately frost-tolerant and can cope with short periods of cold.
The soil should be humous, loose, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal; consistent moisture is preferred, but waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a small tree and usually reaches 3 to 8 meters in height. It typically bears its first fruits after about 4 to 7 years under good conditions.
