Timbo / Elephant Tree

The Timbo prefers a full-sun, warm, and sheltered location. It is very heat-tolerant and drought-resistant, but only moderately frost-hardy.

The soil should be deep, loose, and well-draining. A neutral to slightly alkaline pH value (approx. 6.0–7.5) is ideal. The plant grows quickly and tolerates dry periods well; waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as a large, broad-crowned deciduous tree, usually reaching 15 to 25 meters in height. It is particularly valued for its dense shade and its importance as a fast-growing utility and landscape tree.
