Thyme

Thyme prefers a full sun, warm, and rather dry location. It is very heat and drought tolerant, as well as well frost hardy.

The soil should be very well-drained, sandy to stony, and rather poor in nutrients. A neutral to slightly alkaline pH value (approx. 6.0–7.5) is ideal. Waterlogging should be avoided at all costs.

The plant grows as a low-growing, evergreen subshrub and usually reaches 10 to 30 cm in height. It is particularly valued as a culinary and medicinal plant for its intense aroma.
