South American Bottle Tree

The South American bottle tree prefers a full sun, warm, and sheltered location. It is heat-tolerant and only slightly frost-sensitive, especially young plants.

The soil should be deep, loose, and well-draining. A neutral to slightly acidic pH (approx. 5.5–7.0) is ideal. The plant tolerates dry periods well; waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as a fast-growing, deciduous tree and usually reaches 10 to 20 meters in height. It is particularly valued for its thickened trunk, striking flowers, and exotic appearance.
