Screw Pine

The screw pine prefers a full sun, warm, and sheltered location. It is very heat-tolerant but sensitive to frost and grows best in tropical to subtropical climates.

The soil should be loose, sandy to loamy, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH (approx. 5.5–6.5) is ideal. The plant is relatively drought-tolerant; waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as a slow to medium-growing, palm-like shrub or small tree and usually reaches 3 to 10 meters in height. It is particularly valued for its spirally arranged leaves and exotic appearance.
