Chives

Chives prefer a sunny to semi-shady, cool and moist location. They are very robust and frost-hardy.

The soil should be humus-rich, loose and consistently moist. A slightly acidic to neutral pH (approx. 5.5–6.5) is ideal. Waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as a perennial and usually reaches 20 to 40 cm in height.
It is primarily valued as a culinary and spice herb for its mild, onion-like flavor.
