Rosella

The Roselle prefers a sunny, warm, and sheltered location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It is sensitive to frost and grows very quickly in high temperatures.

The soil should be loose, humus-rich, and well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 7.0 is ideal, regular moisture is preferred, but waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as an annual to short-lived perennial and typically reaches 1.5 to 3 meters in height. The edible red calyxes can usually be harvested about 4 to 6 months after sowing.
