Quebracho Colorado
(Schinopsis balansae)
The Quebracho Colorado prefers a full sun, warm and very dry location. It is extremely heat and drought tolerant and suitable for arid to semi-arid climates.
The soil should be deep, sandy to stony, and very well-drained. A neutral to slightly alkaline pH (approx. 6.0–7.5) is ideal. Waterlogging should be avoided at all costs.
The plant grows as a slow-growing, very hard deciduous tree and usually reaches 10 to 25 meters in height. It is particularly valued for its extremely hard wood and its high ecological and economic importance.
