Porcelain flower
(Hoya carnosa)
The porcelain flower prefers a bright to semi-shady, warm, and sheltered location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It is sensitive to frost and is usually kept as an indoor or container plant in cooler regions.
The soil should be very loose, humus-rich, and extremely well-draining (often more epiphytic, e.g., with bark content). A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between about 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal, moderate watering is preferred, and waterlogging should be strictly avoided.
The plant grows as a climbing or hanging succulent and can form shoots several meters long. It is primarily valued for its waxy, strongly fragrant, star-shaped flowers.
