Patchouli

Patchouli prefers a semi-shady to sunny, warm, and very sheltered location. It is sensitive to frost and grows best in tropical to subtropical climates.

The soil should be loose, humus-rich, and well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value (approx. 5.5–6.5) is ideal. Consistent moisture is preferred, but waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as a bushy perennial and usually reaches 30 to 90 cm in height.
It is primarily valued for its highly aromatic oil, which is used in perfume and cosmetics.
