Brazil nut
(Bertholletia excelsa)
The Brazil nut tree prefers a warm, tropical, sunny to semi-shady location with high humidity. It requires regular watering, with the soil needing to be consistently moist but very well-drained.
Ideally, the soil should be deep, nutrient-rich, and well-drained, with a slightly acidic pH of about 5.5 to 6.5. Waterlogging must be avoided at all costs, as the roots are sensitive.
Under optimal conditions, it begins to bear fruit after about 10 to 15 years, producing the well-known hard nuts in large capsule-like fruits. The tree usually reaches a height of about 30 to 50 meters and develops a very large, majestic crown.
