Papaya

The papaya prefers a full sun, warm, and very sheltered location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It is sensitive to frost and reacts strongly to cold and wind.

The soil should be loose, rich in humus, and very well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal, consistent moisture is preferred, and waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as a fast-growing, often unbranched stem and usually reaches 2 to 5 meters in height. It typically bears its first fruits after about 6 to 12 months under good conditions.
