Bird's nest fern

The Bird's Nest Fern prefers a semi-shady to shady, warm, and very sheltered location with high humidity. It is sensitive to frost and grows best in consistently warm, tropical to subtropical climates (or as a houseplant/greenhouse plant).

The soil should be loose, humus-rich, and very well-drained (often with bark or epiphyte content). A slightly acidic pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal. Consistent moisture is important, but waterlogging should absolutely be avoided, as the roots are sensitive.

The plant grows as an evergreen fern in a funnel-shaped rosette and usually reaches 30 cm to 1 meter in diameter (larger depending on conditions). It is primarily valued for its large, glossy, decorative leaves.
