Nashi Pear
(Pyrus pyrifolia)
The Nashi pear prefers a sunny location in a temperate to subtropical climate. It is well frost-hardy and requires a period of winter cold for reliable flowering and fruiting.
The soil should be deep, humus-rich, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 6.0 and 7.5 is ideal, consistent moisture is preferred, and waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a tree and usually reaches 3 to 6 meters in height. It typically bears its first fruit after about 3 to 5 years under good conditions.
