Nutmeg

The nutmeg tree prefers a warm, tropical, and semi-shady to sunny location with high humidity. It requires regular watering, with the soil being consistently moist but very well-drained.

An ideal soil is humus-rich, deep, and slightly acidic with a pH value of about 5.5 to 6.5. Waterlogging must be avoided at all costs, as the roots are sensitive.

Under optimal conditions, it begins to bear fruit after about 6 to 8 years, yielding the well-known nutmegs. The tree usually reaches a height of about 10 to 20 meters and develops a dense, evergreen crown.
