Swiss Cheese Plant
(Monstera deliciosa)
Monstera deliciosa prefers a semi-shady to shady, warm, and very sheltered location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It is sensitive to frost and grows best in high humidity.
The soil should be humous, loose, and very well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal; consistent moisture is preferred, and waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a vigorously climbing vine and can reach several meters in height in nature. It typically bears its first fruits after about 2 to 3 years under good conditions, though only fully ripe fruits are edible.
