Mexican mountain palms

Mexican mountain palms

(Chamaedorea elegans)

The Mexican mountain palm prefers a semi-shady to shady, warm and sheltered location without direct sun. It is frost-sensitive and is very well suited as a houseplant or container plant.

The soil should be loose, humus-rich and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value (approx. 5.5–6.5) is ideal. Consistent moisture is preferred, but waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as a slow-growing, clumping palm and usually reaches 1 to 3 meters in height. It is especially valued for its fine, delicate fronds and its high suitability as a houseplant.
