Marmalade Bush
(Streptosolen jamesonii)
The Marmalade Bush (Streptosolen jamesonii) prefers a location with full sun to partial shade, warm and sheltered, in a subtropical to tropical climate. It is sensitive to frost and usually grows as a container plant in cooler regions.
The soil should be loose, humus-rich, and well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal. Regular moisture is preferred, but waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as an overhanging shrub, typically reaching 1 to 2.5 meters in height. It does not produce edible fruits and is primarily valued for its intensely orange, often "marmalade-like" glowing flowers.
