Madagascar Palm

The Madagascar palm prefers a sunny, warm, and dry location. It is very heat and drought tolerant, but sensitive to frost.

The soil should be very loose, sandy to mineral, and extremely well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH (approx. 5.5–7.0) is ideal. Waterlogging should definitely be avoided.

The plant grows slowly as a succulent trunk with a crown of leaves and usually reaches 1 to 6 meters in height. It is primarily valued for its palm-like appearance and its thickened, water-storing trunk.
