Laurel
(Laurus nobilis)
Bay laurel prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm, and sheltered location. It is moderately frost-hardy and thrives best in mild to subtropical climates.
The soil should be loose, humus-rich, and well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value (approx. 5.5–7.0) is ideal. The plant is relatively drought-tolerant, but waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as an evergreen shrub or small tree and usually reaches 2 to 10 meters in height. It is primarily valued as a culinary and ornamental plant for its aromatic leaves.
