Lychee

The lychee prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm and very sheltered location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It is sensitive to frost and also to severe drought.

The soil should be deep, rich in humus and well-drained. A slightly acidic pH value between approximately 5.0 and 6.5 is ideal, consistent moisture is preferred, and waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as an evergreen tree and usually reaches 8 to 15 meters in height. It typically bears its first fruits after about 4 to 8 years under good conditions.
