Kumquat
(Citrus japonica)
The kumquat prefers a sunny, warm, and sheltered location. It is somewhat more frost-tolerant than many other citrus species, but should be protected from severe frost.
The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal; consistent moisture is preferred, and waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a small, evergreen tree or shrub and usually reaches a height of 1.5 to 4 meters. It typically bears its first fruits after about 2 to 4 years under good conditions.
