Cuban oregano
(Plectranthus amboinicus)
Cuban oregano prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm, and sheltered location. It is very heat-loving and sensitive to frost.
The soil should be loose, humus-rich, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value (approx. 5.5–6.5) is ideal. The plant tolerates drought well; waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a succulent, bushy subshrub and usually reaches 30 to 100 cm in height. It is valued primarily for its highly aromatic, oregano-like leaves, used in cooking and home remedies.
