Bird of Paradise flower

The Bird of Paradise flower prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm and sheltered location in a subtropical to tropical climate. It is only slightly frost-tolerant and should be protected from severe frost.

The soil should be loose, humus-rich and very well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 7.0 is ideal, consistent but moderate moisture is preferred, and waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as a clump-forming perennial and usually reaches a height of 1 to 1.5 meters. It is particularly valued for its extraordinary, bird-like flowers.
