Rex Begonia

The Rex Begonia prefers a bright to semi-shady, warm and very sheltered location without direct midday sun. It is frost-sensitive and is usually cultivated as a houseplant or container plant.

The soil should be loose, humus-rich and very well-drained. A slightly acidic pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal. Consistent but moderate moisture is preferred; waterlogging should absolutely be avoided.

The plant grows as a herbaceous, rhizomatous perennial and usually reaches 20 to 40 cm in height, but it often spreads out in area. It is primarily valued for its strikingly patterned, colorful leaves.
