Plantain Rhino Horn

Plantain Rhino Horn

(Musa acuminata 'African Rhino Horn')

The plantain prefers a warm, sunny to partially shaded and wind-protected location. It requires high humidity and should be watered regularly, with the soil remaining consistently moist but well-drained.

An ideal soil is humus-rich, nutrient-rich, and very well-drained with a slightly acidic pH of about 5.5 to 6.5. Regular organic fertilization supports vigorous growth and the development of large fruit clusters.

Under optimal conditions, it begins to bear fruit after about 1.5 to 3 years, yielding large, starchy plantains. The plant typically reaches a height of about 3 to 5 meters and grows as a robust, tropical-looking perennial.
