Kiri
(Paulownia)
The Kiri or Foxglove Tree prefers a sunny, warm, and sheltered location. It is very fast-growing, but only moderately frost-hardy when young; older trees are much more robust.
The soil should be loose, deep, and very well-draining. A neutral to slightly alkaline pH value between approximately 6.0 and 7.5 is ideal. The plant grows quickly with good water supply but can also tolerate short dry spells; waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a very fast-growing deciduous tree, usually reaching 10 to 20 meters in height, and even more under good conditions. It is primarily valued for its extremely rapid growth, large heart-shaped leaves, and striking violet-blue flowers in spring.
