Cat's tail

Cat's tail prefers a sunny to partially shaded, warm and very sheltered location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It is sensitive to frost and grows best in high humidity.

The soil should be humus-rich, loose and well-drained. A slightly acidic pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal, consistent moisture is preferred, and waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as an evergreen shrub and usually reaches 1 to 3 meters in height. It is particularly valued for its long, red, "cat's tail-like" inflorescences.
