Casuarina tree

The Casuarina tree prefers a full sun, warm, and exposed location. It is very heat and drought tolerant and grows particularly well in coastal and tropical areas.

The soil should be sandy to loamy and very well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.0 and 7.0 is ideal. The plant is salt-tolerant and also copes well with nutrient-poor soils; waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as a fast-growing, evergreen tree and usually reaches 10 to 25 meters in height, depending on the location. It is particularly valued for its robustness, suitability as wind and erosion protection, and its fine, needle-like foliage.
