Jenipapo
(Genipa americana)
The Jenipapo prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm and very humid location in a tropical climate. It is sensitive to frost and grows best in high humidity.
The soil should be humous, deep, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal; consistent moisture is preferred, but waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a tree and usually reaches 10 to 20 meters in height. It typically bears its first fruits after about 4 to 6 years under good conditions.
