Jackfruit
(Artocarpus heterophyllus)
The jackfruit prefers a sunny, warm, and very sheltered location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It is sensitive to frost and requires consistently high temperatures.
The soil should be deep, rich in humus, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 7.0 is ideal; regular moisture is important, and waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a large tree and usually reaches 10 to 25 meters in height. Under good conditions, it typically bears its first fruits after about 3 to 6 years.
