Imperial Palm
(Roystonea oleracea)
The Imperial palm prefers a full-sun, warm, and very sheltered location. It is sensitive to frost and grows best in tropical to subtropical climates.
The soil should be deep, loose, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH (approx. 5.5–6.5) is ideal. The plant requires regular water but cannot tolerate waterlogging.
The plant grows as a very tall, elegant solitary palm, usually reaching 20 to 30 meters in height. It is particularly valued for its smooth, columnar trunk and its imposing, tropical appearance.
