Heliconia rostrata
(Hanging lobster claw)
Heliconia rostrata prefers a semi-shady to sunny, warm, and very humid location in a tropical climate. It is sensitive to frost and requires high humidity as well as consistently warm temperatures.
The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and very well-draining. A slightly acidic pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal; regular moisture is important, and waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows herbaceous and usually reaches 1.5 to 3 meters in height. It is primarily known for its hanging, striking inflorescences.
