Heliconia psittacorum

Heliconia prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm, and very sheltered location in a tropical climate. It is frost-sensitive and grows best in high humidity.

The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and well-draining. A slightly acidic pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal; consistent moisture is preferred, but waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as an herb and usually reaches a height of 0.5 to 1.5 meters. It is mainly valued for its striking, colorful inflorescences.
