Pomegranate
(Punica granatum)
The pomegranate prefers a full sun, warm, and dry location. It is heat and drought tolerant and well-suited for Mediterranean to subtropical climates.
The soil should be well-draining, sandy-loamy, and rather nutrient-poor to moderately nutrient-rich. A neutral to slightly alkaline pH value between approximately 6.0 and 7.5 is ideal; waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a shrub or small tree, usually reaching 2 to 5 meters in height. It typically bears its first fruits after about 2 to 4 years under good conditions.
