Glossy privet

Glossy privet prefers a sunny to semi-shaded location and is very adaptable. It requires regular watering, especially during the establishment phase, but can tolerate short dry periods once established.

An ideal soil is humus-rich, loose, and well-drained with a slightly acidic to neutral pH value of about 5.5 to 7.0. A good supply of nutrients promotes dense and vigorous growth.

The evergreen to semi-evergreen tree usually reaches a height of about 10 to 15 meters, but can easily be kept lower through regular pruning. It develops a dense, compact crown and is therefore also excellently suited as a hedge and privacy screen plant.
