Gladioli

The gladiolus prefers a sunny, warm, and airy location. It is sensitive to frost and is usually cultivated seasonally as a bulbous plant in colder regions.

The soil should be loose, sandy to loamy, and very well-drained. A neutral to slightly acidic pH value between approximately 5.5 and 7.0 is ideal; regular moisture during the growth phase is preferred, and waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows from a corm and typically reaches 60 cm to 1.5 meters in height, depending on the variety. It is primarily valued for its long flower spikes with many colorful, funnel-shaped blossoms.
