Fiddle-leaf fig

The fiddle-leaf fig prefers a bright to semi-shady, warm, and sheltered location without direct strong midday sun. It is sensitive to frost and is usually cultivated as a houseplant or in a container.

The soil should be loose, humous, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal. Consistent, moderate moisture is preferred; waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as an evergreen tree and reaches 10 to 15 meters in height outdoors, but usually remains significantly smaller in cultivation. It is primarily valued for its large, fiddle-shaped leaves and its modern, tropical appearance.
