Honeysuckle
(Lonicera caprifolium)
Honeysuckle prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm, and sheltered location in a temperate to mild subtropical climate. It is very frost-hardy and suitable for many Central European regions.
The soil should be humous, loose, and well-draining. A neutral to slightly alkaline pH value between approximately 6.0 and 7.5 is ideal; regular moisture is preferred, but waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a vigorously climbing vine and can reach several meters in height. It produces decorative, red to orange berries, which are, however, slightly poisonous and must not be consumed. It is primarily valued for its strongly fragrant flowers.
