Gardenia

The gardenia prefers a bright to semi-shady, warm, and sheltered location. It is sensitive to frost and thrives best in tropical to subtropical climates or as a houseplant.

The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and well-drained. A distinctly acidic pH value between approximately 5.0 and 6.0 is ideal; consistent moisture is important, but waterlogging is not tolerated.

The plant grows as a shrub and usually reaches 1 to 2 meters in height. It is primarily known for its intensely fragrant, white flowers.
