Royal Poinciana / Flamboyant Tree

The Flame Tree prefers a sunny, warm, and sheltered location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It is very thermophilic and frost-sensitive, but grows very quickly in warm regions.

The soil should be loose, deep, and well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 7.0 is ideal. The plant is relatively drought-tolerant; waterlogging should be avoided at all costs.

The plant grows as a broad, spreading, deciduous shade tree and typically reaches 8 to 15 meters in height, with a very wide crown.

It is primarily valued for its extremely striking, bright red to orange floral display in summer.
