European raspberry
(Red raspberry)
The European raspberry prefers a sunny to semi-shady location in a temperate climate. It is winter-hardy and also grows reliably in cooler regions.
The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal, consistent moisture promotes growth and fruiting, and waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a cane-forming shrub and usually reaches 1.5 to 2.5 meters in height. It typically bears its first fruits in the second year after planting.
